Is it better to have separate legs or not to have separate legs in a baby sleeping bag?

1. Around 0-2 months: Swaddle or swaddle-style sleeping bag
It is more appropriate to swaddle or wear a swaddle-style sleeping bag for babies before 2 months (especially before the full moon). On the one hand, swaddling can effectively prevent the startle reaction; on the other hand, the swaddling effect is good, and the baby will feel more secure.
You can swaddle yourself with a quilt or blanket. When swaddling, pay attention to "tight on top and loose on bottom", that is, you need to wrap your arms to prevent startle, but the baby's legs need to have enough room for movement. Binding the legs will easily cause hip dysplasia
You can also buy a swaddle-style sleeping bag directly, which is more convenient and quick to use. Pay attention to the zipper position when wearing it, and don't scratch the baby.
After the baby is one month old, as the arm movement develops, the swaddling will gradually become unbearable (my baby will twist and rub hard when being swaddled, trying to stretch out his little arms), and at this time, it is necessary to change to a surrender-style sleeping bag.
2. 1-3 months: Anti-startle sleeping bag (surrender-style sleeping bag)
At this stage, the startle reaction has not disappeared, but the baby does not like his arms to be tied tightly. The surrender-style sleeping bag takes into account both needs. Personally, I feel that the anti-startle effect of the surrender-style sleeping bag is average, but it is better than not using it.
3. After 3 months: Split-leg and non-split-leg sleeping bags
After 3 months, the startle reaction gradually disappears, and you can buy a common sleeping bag.
1. Non-split-leg sleeping bag
Advantages: 1) One-piece, easy to put on and take off or change diapers; 2) The feet can be covered together, so they will not get cold.
Disadvantages: 1) It is very inconvenient for the baby to exercise after wearing it; 2) After putting it on, the baby cannot be put in a dining chair or other scenes where the legs need to be separated.
More suitable scenarios: 1) Before the baby can sit and crawl; 2) When the weather is cool and the baby's feet need to be covered to keep warm; 3) The sleeping bag is only used when the baby is sleeping.
2. Split-leg sleeping bag
Advantages: The legs can be separated, which is convenient for the baby to exercise. It is not much different from a jumpsuit and can be worn during the day.
Disadvantages: 1) When it is cold, the feet will be frozen when sleeping at night; 2) It is more troublesome to change diapers at night than a non-split-leg sleeping bag
More suitable scenarios: 1) After the baby can crawl and walk; 2) When the weather is warm.
